Job Summary

The Finance Manager is a key member of the Finance team responsible for overseeing various financial functions, including general ledger review and reporting, accounts payables and receivables, audit support, month-end closing, and complex balance sheet account reconciliations. The Finance Manager ensures compliance with fund accounting principles, maintaining separate reporting for all revenue and related expenses. This role follows the accrual basis of accounting, recognizing revenue and expenses when earned or incurred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting tasks, account analysis, and month-end closing activities, ensuring adherence to internal controls and deadlines.
  • Initiate, develop, and maintain company accounting policies and procedures in coordination with the Supervisor.
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes efficiently.
  • Supervise accounts payables and receivables functions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Review and prepare journal entries based on supporting reconciliations and schedules.
  • Maintain and report on the FSF budget, ensuring financial accuracy and transparency. • Conduct bank reconciliations across all accounts.
  • Oversee temporarily restricted net assets and other donor-restricted activities.
  • Coordinate payroll processes via ADP and prepare quarterly 941 reconciliations.
  • Review and reconcile monthly FSA activities and account analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with audit standards by maintaining work papers, journal entries, and financial analysis.
  • Generate monthly financial reports and coordinate internal/external audits, budget reviews, and accounts payable reconciliation.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Sage 300 and Microsoft Office, with the ability to adapt to new applications and financial systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, V-lookups, and macros.
  • Familiarity with ADP payroll system preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 7 to 10 years of related work experience, including at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in non-profit accounting and computerized financial systems.
  • Experience with Sage 300 preferred.
