Job Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the general operation and maintenance of all building equipment and systems. General knowledge of installation and repair of all phases of refrigeration, plumbing and electrical systems of the W. Wiley Federal Building.

Pay Rate: $40.60/hourly

Schedule:

10am - 6pm

Work Model: Onsite

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
    \n
  • Quickly respond to hot/cold calls from clients or tenants.
  • \n
  • Participate in preparing the building and its systems for significant weather changes from summer to winter.
  • \n
  • Perform basic plumbing repairs such as leaky pipes or replacing flushometers.
  • \n
  • Work with the Chief or Lead Engineer in gaining additional knowledge of the trades.
  • \n
  • Perform daily work load with little or no supervision.
  • \n
  • Work directly with the co-workers in accessing, addressing and solving challenges as they arise.
  • \n
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • \n

  • Ability to pass an extensive background analysis.

  • Ability to read blue print diagrams, or desire to learn.
  • \n
  • Ability to climb 8-foot ladder and can lift 50 pounds.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of DDC systems to control space temperature in maintaining heating and cooling systems within the facility.
  • \n

Job Requirements

Mandatory:
    \n
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • \n
  • 4 years' experience in the operations and maintenance field.
  • \n
  • Experience working in a government facility.
  • \n
  • Basic HVAC; CFC Universal.
  • \n
\n

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.

  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.

Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
