Job Title: Logistics Specialist- (CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY)

Location: Warrenville, IL

Department: Logistics & Customer Service

This role is central to ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of products across multiple modes of transport—rail, road, and marine. By coordinating daily operations, managing inventory and imports/exports, and supporting logistics optimization, you will directly contribute to the reliability of the supply chain and the satisfaction of customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

Safety

• Promote and adhere to behavioral safety principles and life-saving rules.
• Ensure safety compliance across all carrier, terminal, and transload interactions.

Inventory Coordination

• Manage feedstock inventory to support production planning.
• Issue voyage orders, including loading and discharging instructions.
• Coordinate supplier relationships and maintain product quality/integrity.
• Set railcar loading plans in alignment with customer requirements, available inventory, and rail fleet availability.
• Lead end-of-month closing requirements with operations teams.

Truck Operations

• Manage trucking and iso-container prior approvals.
• Review and verify logistics provider invoices and freight charges.
• Maintain and update truck carrier freight rates in internal systems.
• Oversee daily truck delivery schedules and resolve EDI exceptions.
• Serve as backup to the Truck & Terminal Manager.

Import/Export Coordination

• Manage marine imports of key chemical products.
• Support marine imports including vessel nominations and cargo vetting.
• Set up new customers in internal systems and maintain pricing files.
• Monitor freight invoices, demurrage claims, and reimbursement processes.
• Serve as backup to the Inventory & Export Coordinator.

Logistics Optimization & Procurement

• Support procurement and contract management of logistics services (truck, lab services, terminals/transloads).
• Monitor logistics network performance to ensure on-time delivery and high levels of customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in logistics, supply chain, or operations (chemical industry preferred).
• Background in both technical and commercial functions such as logistics, business management, and purchasing.
• Experience with import/export activities and documentation requirements.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in SAP and ERP systems.
• Strong understanding of logistics operations across multiple modes (rail, road, marine).
• Proficiency with standard business software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong relationship management and vendor coordination skills.
