About The Criminal Investigator 2
Under general supervision, investigates alleged or suspected violations of Federal, state, or local laws, rules and regulations to determine if evidence is sufficient to recommend prosecution or to report findings to the appropriate jurisdictional authority for their action. Collaborates with other authorities on activities such as surveillance, transcription, and research. Conducts background investigations. Conducts internal investigations of law enforcement agencies. Examines records in order to locate links in the chain of evidence or information. Identifies case issues and evidence needed, based on analysis of charges, complaints, or allegations of law violations. Obtains and verifies evidence by interviewing and observing suspects and witnesses, or by analyzing records. Obtains information related to cases. Prepares reports that detail investigation findings



Core duties

  • Be able to conduct background checks for new hire and current employees.
  • Conduct criminal and internal investigation on as needed basis.
  • Be knowledgeable in obtaining fingerprints for employment and employees as required by federal and state law.
  • Assist with physical security of regional offices.
  • Prepare ID badges and security access key cards for employees.
  • Assist in duties as the Quartermaster to include assignment of vehicles and fuel cards.
  • Assist in the auction process of seized and condemned items.

Note: Occasional overnight stays will be required. Some positions may require incumbent to have a valid Class C driver's license.

What qualifications are required?

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of related experience



OR


Three years of experience in law enforcement or related field



OR


One year of experience required at the lower-level Criminal Investigator 1 (PSP090) or position equivalent.



AND

Georgia P.O.S.T. Certification.

Preferred qualifications:

  • GCIC Certification
  • Certified Peace Officer
  • Familiar with Livescan fingerprinting system
  • Three years law enforcement experience

Salary Range: $42,924.80 - $60,027.00
